Below is my very first post as I embarked not only on my blogging journey, but my couponing journey.  Lets take a trip down memory lane and start from scratch.  It may serve to be helpful not only to newbies, but to us oldies as well.

Hi everyone. My name is K and I am about to embark on a journey of savings…..hopefully. My good friend at savinitup.com has been telling me about couponing for a long time now and while I sometimes benefit from her couponing (she gives me stuff), I had never done it myself.  Because I was somewhat interested I started watching TLC’s Extreme Couponing show and I was even more intrigued.  While I don’t want to buy 50 bottles of mustard at one time or have food over flowing into rooms other than my kitchen, I am interested to see how much money I could save on things I would normally purchase.  I would love for you to take this journey with me.  Maybe we can all learn and hopefully save together.

Price Matching Is Our Friend

coupons1

I could not imagine shopping at Walmart without being able to price match. It is by far, one of the best amenities offered by big stores such as the aforementioned, Walmart, Target, and even Best Buy……. who knew? Well price matching for me is essential to being able to feed my family, stay within budget, and not spend a million dollars in gas trying to catch all the great but small deals at each individual store in my little town. Even if u r not a seasoned couponer, price matching could save you hundreds of dollars a year alone. Now add that savings to the savings from coupons…..
yes u can use coupons on items u price match!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Walmart has really set the bar high with their PriceMatching or AdMatching policy. It is the ONLY way I shop there. My goal at the end of my transaction is to have purchased more items than the amount of dollars I have spent. My last receipt was 43 items and I paid 24 dollars. That’s a good haul. Pricematching at its finest.

Friends with Couponing benefits

Every Friday is my Girls Nite Out. That consists of me and my Couponing Crew going shopping together and hanging out.  A typical friday would be us going to CVS to do our drug store deals, then Chilis or BEX to eat/have drinks and talk crap about our work week, hubbys, kids, etc….., then off to Walmart.  This is pretty much our ritual.

We are a small group of four.  The AV Couponers. lol. We help each other out.  We share deals and coupons and it makes couponing SO MUCH MORE FUN.  I look forward to Fridays ALL WEEK.  And we are committed.  Only very important stuff get put before our shopping on Fridays.  If it is not important, it has to wait.

These are my friends with couponing benefits.  If you are new to couponing, i advise you to find someone to coupon with.  They can be new too.  You can be new together, it makes the learning more fun.  It helps to have that friend that understands and wants to hear about coupons…….most peole who don’t coupon will not care nor have any idea what you are talking about.  I am blessed enough to have 3.  YAY!

Newspaper Madness

coupons1

I think I’m lucky that I don’t actually have to purchase my newspapers. I have cultivated a great relationship with the “paperman” and I get multiple papers from him for free.  However the is a setback. I have to meet him on Monday mornings at 4:30 in the morning in front of CVS.  My husband and a couple of friends think I’m crazy.  But I feel like its worth it. What do you think?

Changes at Target

coupon-clipping-service1

In the past week, I have visited target twice and both times I was given disturbing news from the cashiers.

First I was told that I could not purchase two shirts with two target coupons in the same transaction. Because the coupons were the same, I could only use one.  And that actually, they were only supposed to allow me to use one coupon  period because their coupons say ” one coupon or offer per guest”.  I was stunned.

The very next time was yesterday. My friends and I went to price match Pepsi next.  PepsI 2 liters are on sale this week at CVS for $.77 cent. We have $.50 cent off Pepsi Next coupons from an insert a couple of weeks ago. We figured “Awesome”.  Price match from CVS, use Pepsi Next Target coupon from insert, and Voila, Pepsi for $.27 cent each.  Sadly, this was not the case. We were told that because the ad says “on sale with card” they do not honor that price and therefore will not price match it? Really??? Almost all stores have a store loyalty program and the vast majority of the sales are for those who hold the store loyalty cards.  That is soooooooo not right!  Needless to say, I am not happy with Target. coupon clipping service1 Changes at Target
