I just had a HORRIBLE experience at my CVS for the FIRST TIME EVER. I have never had a bad experience at this CVS. I LOVE my CVS. But today was different.  Today I went in to CVS at a time I don’t usually go.  I am a night owl. I suffer from insomnia so I am up late and I usually go to CVS late at night or in the morning after I take the kids to school.  Well this time, I decided to go out with the kids around 8pm.  WRONG THING TO DO.

The cashier was NOT coupon friendly or knowledgeable. She also could not do simple math. She called the manager over and the manager as well was not coupon friendly.  I had some coupons they did not wanna take.  They did not wanna take like coupons.  I was appalled.  I had two of the same coupon and she did not wanna take it.  We argued about that.

She also didn’t want to take the CVS coupon that was expired but it was a CVS coupon.  They ALWAYS take expired CVS coupons.  I have never had that problem before.  I was too done.  I couldn’t believe they didn’t want to take my coupons.

On top of ALL of that, I had my 3 kids there who didn’t want me to get upset and fuss at the lady and who also wanted candy.  I just told her to void it out and give me coupons back.  I left everything there.  Over 100 worth of stuff before the sale price.  I started grabbing the bags out of my basket and almost slamming them down on the counter.  I was livid.  I grabbed my coupons and walked out.

The moral……..As a couponer, sometimes you have to be willing to WALK AWAY from your haul to retain some rationality and dignity.  However, if my kids were not with me, I would have def cursed her out.

I don’t mean to laugh at your pain but that’s my CVS trip every other week!! (minus the kids, I learned to not bring small people to CVS… EVER) They hire/fire so many new people that they can’t keep up with policy… They have actually asked me what they are allowed/not allowed to do. A very nice cashier just last week after I struggled in there when lack of stock threw my whole house of cards off told me #1, they NEVER order enough for what gets people ECB’s back, on purpose… and #2 come in after 5 PM on Saturday… they have switched to the next weeks sales in their registers and you can actually do both weeks at the same time because new stock that has been ordered has come in… they don’t tell people this because of shelf cleaners and mass couponers. But I’m there every week with my lists and coupons and sitting in my wheelchair racing around like a crazy person while my poor husband tries not to cry like the kids I left home… and she felt bad every time I struggled because THEY had a faulty system… Just an FYI to hopefully help ya… I for SURE feel your pain!!

  • I did the same thing at my walgreens recently. left $80 worth of stuff at the register, i just left it all in the buggy and told them to keep it. :)

    • Yeah you have to be willing to say “Screw it”. And walk away. Coupons are money for them. They get reimbursed. And of course the OOP is money for them aw well so if they don’t want my money, I will find someone who does.

  • I am sorry that you had to got through this. I just hope this result dfoes not trickle down to my CVS (Which is down the street from yours). Like you said, the moral of ths story is be prepared to walk away from your haul because you will run into cashiers who really just do not under stand coupons and are unaware of their own coupon policy.

  • I have to ask – was this the CVS on Challenger and J? I have not been there in about a month since I vowed never to go back to that location again! The manager always hassles me about my coupons, and once tried to tell me I was trying to use an invalid CVS coupon because he had already scanned it, then voided the transaction and tried to scan it again and it wouldn’t take it because it was a bar-coded, one-time-use coupon. I had to argue with him that it wouldn’t scan because he had just scanned it! I stick to the one on K or the one on 20th West – never had a problem at either of those :)

    • Actually, this was the one on 20th? They JUST got a new manager like a week ago and she was being a total prick. I have NEVER had a problem here before and hope that this was a one time indecent cause I LOVE that particular CVS.
